In detail

What each job covers

Boiler Repair

A plumber attends to diagnose the fault, often checking ignition, pressure, thermostats and controls. The faulty part is repaired or replaced. The system is tested and left safe to use.

When you need it. The boiler won't fire up, produces no hot water, loses pressure frequently, or makes unusual noises.

Before you get in touch. Check the pressure gauge on the boiler. Note any error codes showing on the display panel.

Emergency Leaks

A plumber locates the source of the leak, isolates the water supply if needed, and repairs the burst or leaking pipe or joint. Affected areas are dried and checked for ongoing water.

When you need it. Water is dripping or spraying from pipes, a joint has burst, or there is visible pooling water inside the home.

Before you get in touch. Turn off the water at the stopcock if the leak is severe. Note where the water is coming from.

Drain Unblocking

A plumber uses specialist tools such as drain rods, plungers or a drain camera to identify and remove the blockage. The pipe is flushed through and tested to confirm flow.

When you need it. Water drains slowly or backs up from a sink, bath, toilet or external drain. Sewage smell may be present.

Before you get in touch. Avoid using chemical drain cleaners. Note which outlets are affected and when the blockage started.

Central Heating

Installation involves laying pipework, fitting radiators, connecting the boiler and pump, balancing the system, and commissioning it. Servicing includes cleaning, checking parts and topping up inhibitor.

When you need it. Radiators don't heat evenly, rooms stay cold, or a complete system needs installing or replacing.

Before you get in touch. Check if any radiators are cold at the top or bottom. Note the age and make of the existing boiler if you have one.

Bathroom Fitting

A plumber removes old suites, fits pipework for the new suite, installs the bath or shower tray, sink and toilet, tests all connections and makes good the surrounding area.

When you need it. The bathroom suite is old, damaged or needs updating. A new bathroom layout is required in a home.

Before you get in touch. Have photos or measurements of the space. Know what style and type of suite you want to install.

General Plumbing

Work includes repairing or replacing taps, fixing leaking joints, replacing radiators, moving pipe runs, installing new valves and maintaining existing systems to prevent future problems.

When you need it. A tap drips constantly, a radiator valve is stuck, pipework is corroded, or routine maintenance is due.

Before you get in touch. Turn off the relevant supply valve if you are able to locate it. Describe exactly where the fault is.

SAMPLE LAYOUT — NOT REAL REVIEWS. This shows how your Google reviews will appear here once you are collecting them.

How your reviews will look

Your Google rating will show here, in place of the grey stars below.

Your customer
Example

This is where a real Google review appears. When a customer leaves you five stars, their words show here — in their name, with their rating and the date they wrote it.

A recent customer
Example

Reviews are pulled from your Google Business Profile, so this section fills itself. Nothing to write, nothing to keep up to date.

Another customer
Example

The most recent reviews show first, so the page keeps pace with the work without anyone touching it.

Sample layout. The three cards above are not real reviews and no rating is claimed.

Reviews are pulled from your Google Business Profile the day this site becomes yours. If you are not collecting them yet, the quickest start is to ask your last five customers.

Good to know

Common questions

General guidance about plumbers in the UK, not specific to any one business.

What should I do if I have a water leak inside my home?

Turn off the water at the stopcock immediately to prevent damage. Place buckets under the leak. Call a plumber urgently. Do not ignore it—active leaks cause structural damage and mould within days.

Why is my central heating system making noise?

Noise often comes from air in the pipes, a faulty pump, or limescale buildup on heating elements. A plumber can identify the source. Ignoring it risks pump failure and loss of heat.

Can a plumber install a new bathroom?

Yes. A plumber handles all water supply and waste connections for the bath, shower, sink and toilet. They work with other tradespeople like electricians and tilers to complete the room.

What causes a blocked drain?

Blocked drains result from hair, grease, soap, toilet paper, tree roots or objects lodged in pipes. Grease hardens as it cools; hair accumulates over time. Regular drain care prevents most blockages.

Is it normal for a boiler to need a power flush?

A power flush clears sludge and debris from heating pipes to improve flow and efficiency. Older systems benefit most. It is not essential yearly but helps prevent radiator cold spots and pump noise.
